Chris Fortier is ready to bust on the scene with his very first solo album. He was also responsible for a Bedrock Records compilation and more recently “Balance 007″.

“I am nearly done with my first artist album. It has been an under taking. Something that i started working on the begining of 2006. Now about 22 tracks in and about to deliver. It has really taken shape the last couple months..” -Chris Fortier

Seriously Tydi!

Will Twible is serious about dancing. With his focused moves combined with TyDi’s awesome set last night at the Family nightclub, it made for one night you wouldn’t want to miss out on!To be truthful, I go to the family a lot. I’ve seen a lot of DJ’s live, followed many sets and watched my favourites with anticipation only sometimes to be let down. TyDi is one of those DJ’s you don’t ever get sick of.His showmanship always amuses me because he always knows how to work his crowd. There’s normally one or two songs that stick out in my mind when I see TyDi and last night he used a mixture of new and old songs from his 2006 album and some more recent ’07 tracks. But for me last night, my favorite was an oldie ā€œJump the Next Trainā€™ā€ with a remix from possibly my favorite German duo ever ā€œKyau and Albertā€.When Tydi played this song, really, the crowd just went out of control including myself. His euphoric trance style sent everyone into a ā€œOH-MY-GOD-I-NEED-TO-DANCEā€ energetic frenzy. Last night his set was so elevated, just like I believe real trance should be. It had a higher energy level than normal, most likely because he had a break last week and wanted to come back and absolutely show Brisbane what they missed!Maybe I’m TyDi biased because I’ve seen almost every set of his since this time last year, but it seemed to me that he laid the perfect foundations for BeXta to come into her 1am set and totally pump her crowd. At the beginning her music was a little too simple for me which was a little disappointing because after such a good set, you really just expect bigger and better things. The crowds response wasn’t anywhere near what TyDi had received, but then again, after settling into her set, the crowd had returned to its former glory. I think the reason she sounded so different to Tydi’s set is because she takes a lot longer to change technique and sounds in her songs. When it comes to TyDi playing, every little bit in his songs are all happening very fast, the tempo is fast and the melodic rifts always have that traditional trance sound. But like I had expected, BeXta did bring it! She got a lot faster and started using a lot of progressive/electronic sounds with a faster rhythm.I’m still more of a euphoric trance fan and so long as TyDi continues playing around with this area of dance music, I’ll probably always enjoy his sets just a bit more. On the other hand, its always good to see some interstate acts who show us Brisbane-ites what they know. I must add it’s even better to watch a woman work at what is usually named a mans job!

Expected to be released next month, ā€œBloodfireā€ is the new offer from Anthony Nicholson. Staying true to the Miquifaye fashion, the ā€˜maestro’ got help from Scalercio on organ (special mention to the breath-taking organ ride!), bass and keys and Matt Hudson on guitar, building another gorgeous cosmic track. Here’s another long awaited remix by DJ Spinna, finally released on his own WonderWax label. Spinna proves his credentials as a remixer of note here, adding an infectious bass and wonderful keys (by Selan) to this song from an award winning songwriter, Gordon Chambers, who has written for numerous artists including Anita Baker, Angie Stone and Patti Labelle, just to name a few. Lovely record.
