All the deep heads out there have reason to celebrate: “Love Can Damage Your Health” (Abicah Soul & Dennis Ferrer remix) is finally released on Dennis Ferrer’s Objektivity imprint. Angela McCluskey is the angel behind that performance, Stax did the remix and Dennis Ferrer reworked it, focused on the bassline. Deeeeeep.

“Please Please Please” mixed by Tobias Thomas for Kompakt

Posted by admin on March 29th, 2007 under Club Dance Music

cell phone

“Please Please Please” is the third and last episode of a trilogy of DJ-Mix CDs by Tobias Thomas for KOMPAKT.

Für Dich’ [1999] was the first CD mix released on Kompakt, and the idea behind it was influential: Instead of putting together a dozen recent banging hits, Thomas chose to follow a more personal approach, approaching the mix not as a simulation of a night in a club but as cell phonesomething of a mix tape, allowing room for surprising turns or atmospheric moments in which nothing “happens” in the traditional sense. Variations on the method have followed on Kompakt (DJ Koze, Superpitcher, Michael Mayer), but perhaps the most acclaimed example is volume two in Thomas’ mix series, ‘Smallville’ from 2003, which fused relatively unknown club tracks into a seamless whole designed to be listened to on repeat.

The mix itself, as always, was created with records and turntables, recorded at the (empty) STUDIO 672, the former club legend in which THOMAS, MAYER and SUPERPITCHER reigned over the nightlife and the danceable sound of Cologne every Friday between 1998 - 2006. Apart from some very little post-production this mix is as real, direct and human as it would be on a regular night somewhere in clubs of the world to which Thomas is found on every given weekend. The chosen tracks were not downloaded minutes ago to make sure their are newer than new, more that they are more like good old companions, having been in his DJ suitcase for some time. Above and beyond, they mark some points in history of deep house, ambient, acid and techno and are timeless representantations of electronic music and its evolution.

Take the second track by Adolf Noise (aka DJ Koze) in which the speakers voice asks in German: What is time? “PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE” does not only ignore that part of the question if this music is new or old, but also the tendency to use tracks only as tiny little elements in a huge digital edit and also to never play them as long as the producer intended them to be. So here the tracks get all the time and space to unfold their qualities which gives the listener the possiblity to concentrate on them as music and not just as signals.

Infected Mushroom release their sixth album “Vicious Delicious”

Posted by admin on March 28th, 2007 under Club Dance Music

Two years since the release of the monstrous ‘IM The Supervisor” and a decade since they first infected the world, Infected Mushroom make a glorious return celebrating their highly anticipated 6th studio album ” Vicious Delicious.Infected Mushroom”Erez Aizen and Amit Duvdevani (aka Duvdev)”have been the leading force within the global Psy-Trance scene for nearly a decade. Incorporating pumping bad-ass grooves, infectious melodies, live instruments and vocals into their songs, they’ve performed live in front of well over a million fans around the globe. The band’s energetic live show has wowed crowds at some of the world’s largest and most important music festivals (including OMIX Festival in Mexico, Miami’s Ultra Festival, Tribe in Sao Paulo), and they continue to regularly sell-out top clubs such as the Brixton Academy in London, Toronto’s Koolhaus at the Government, and Avalon in New York and Los Angeles. Their success on the global concert circuit has translated into record sales in excess of 300,000 albums over the course of five acclaimed independent albums.Always one step ahead of the scene, Infected Mushroom are constantly pushing themselves. Following upon fame and success their homeland and the domination of the global electronic music community, in January 2005 Infected Mushroom relocated to Los Angeles, for the purpose of raising their music to the next level & fulfilling all musical aspirations.Since day one, the driving force has always been the fans-” Infected Mushroom was proudly voted #12 in DJ Magazine’s 2006 Top 100 DJ list, a 14 place jump from their 2005 debut, which waS the highest entry ever in the history of the magazine. And once again, Vicious Delicious, contains a myriad of new musical explorations, from Flamenco guitar, to Hip Hop, to Thrash-Metal undertones. Some of the highlights in this ground breaking album include the sensational hit ‘Becoming Insane’, featuring Gil Cerezo, lead singer of the Mexican star band ‘Kinky’, “Artilery’ that blends hip-hop beats a-la Infected style and ‘Suliman’, already considered a rave anthem being performed live by the band for nearly a year as part of their attendance breaking world-wide tour. ‘In Front Of Me’ is a unique musical interpretation that only proves how skillful and diverse Infected Mushroom are. Native Instruments “Kore 2″ with intergrated controller

Posted by admin on March 28th, 2007 under Club Dance Music

KORE 2 is a hardware/software system of truly unique capabilities. Encompassing a huge array of exceptional, immediately production-ready sounds, a unique work-flow optimizing interface and a new, seamlessly integrated controller; KORE 2 lets you sound unique ” in no time.

New in KORE 2:
Integrated Audio EnginesKORE 2 includes the audio engines* from REAKTOR 5, MASSIVE, ABSYNTH 4, FM8, KONTAKT 2 and GUITAR RIG 2 providing a stunning selection of premium sounds (see below).                                                                     500 KoreSounds® 500 unique, production-ready KoreSounds® have been specially created for KORE 2 using the integrated sound generators, effects and advanced MIDI tools (appregiator, step sequencer and MIDI player), incorporating ingenious routing and layering.Through the combination of high-end sound generators with the unique potential of KORE 2, the on-board sounds boast an unparalleled level of detail and depth. The focus has been laid on universally applicable yet inherently tweakable sounds and instruments.

Useful parameters of every on-board sound have been individually mapped to the KORE Controller, allowing for highly detailed editing. Playing and customizing sounds has never been this easy and musical.                                               Sound Variations and Sound MorphingAny KoreSound® can encompass up to 8 sound variations - 8 articulations of one sound enabling you to emphasize varying settings and nuances as part of the musical flow. The 500 on-board sounds have been specially programmed with countless variations. The real innovation herby is the ability to morph sounds between their respective sound variations. For example, a KoreSound® can start as a bass-heavy MASSIVE sound, morph into a crystalline FM8 pad, gradually distort (through the addition of a GUITAR RIG 2 effect) and finally dissolve, (through the addition of a delay plug-in) a haze of reverb. There are practically no limits to how sounds can be morphed. Virtually any parameter of a KoreSound® can be set as a sound variation. Internal mixer settings, volume/pan/send settings, MIDI information, audio and effect parameters as well as the sound settings of the plug-ins can be saved with a sound variation, thus making them available for morphing.Whether smoothly morphing between sound variations with two of the KORE Controller’s rotary dials or switching between variations with the 8 controller buttons ” both processes can be automated in the audio host.                                                                    Create faster, work smarter The new Sound Matrix lets you combine KoreSounds, plug-ins, effects, MIDI file players, step sequencers, appregiators and even entire performances (consisting of multiple KoreSounds) in any combination. Simple drag and drop operation in one unified interface for all file types minimizes the time spent managing files and maximizes creativity.Want to fuse an ABSYNTH pad with an FM8 lead sound and pattern delay? Combine an appregiator with a REAKTOR sound? Trigger a KONTAKT drum kit with a MIDI player?KORE 2 handles all elements (whether KoreSounds, plug-ins, effects, performances or MIDI modules) in the same way and using just one interface. Making, manipulating and working with sounds and plug-ins becomes direct and intuitive as never before.  Complexity made easyThe entire sound architecture has been condensed in such a way that any number of mixer structures, including audio and MIDI routing can be nested inside each other, while simultaneously retaining maximum clarity.

The topmost level in the KORE interface is also the simplest, allowing an immediate, musically intuitive approach - even highly complex KoreSounds are incredibly ease to use. Through double-clicking, the user can access KOREs deeper levels, enabling increasingly profound sound manipulation.                                                                                               Uniform operation in plug-in or stand alone modeIn Kore 2 plug-in and stand-alone mode are now identical. For example, not only single KoreSounds but entire performances can be utilized in plug-in mode.                                                                  Flexible MIDI Routing MIDI control data from the MIDI file player, arpeggiator, step sequencer or any other MIDI generating plug-in can now be routed - in the same flexible way as audio - to any number of destinations. For example, use a REAKTOR sequencer to trigger ABSYNTH sounds                                                               Flexible Aux RoutingCreativity without bounds ” in KORE 2 an unlimited number of aux channels are now at your disposal. Send the output of individual plug-ins to their own individual channels, or for further processing to other channels. Aux channels are created dynamically and are displayed only when needed.                                               Integrated Helper with Tool Tips The new, context-sensitive helper is integrated within the interface. When moving the mouse over an element an explanation of its functions will be displayed a slender help window.                                             Multi-Language Interface Menus and helper are available in English, German, Spanish, French and Japanese.  New KORE 2 ControllerThe new KORE 2 controller has undergone a redesign; many details have been improved and fine-tuned to work in total harmony with the KORE 2 software.References: http://www.native-instruments.com/
