Taken from his current Transitions 3 compilation, John Digweed now releases his latest original production as a single in its own right…

Posted by admin on October 15th, 2007 under Club Dance Music

Club DanceGridlock is Digweed and Muir at their contemporary best, a haunting ride that combines their trademark production with an edgier technique. “Nick and I started work on the track earlier this year and had every intention of it being a single” says John “But it just grew and grew ending up at a whopping 25 minutes, so we hit upon the idea of marrying it to the next instalment of my Transitions compilation series as a bonus disc.”

However on completion, the obligatory test plays to friends and a few key bods suggested they were on to something very special indeed. John elaborates: “We realised it would be a shame to only release the extended 25-minute mix as part of the album so Nick and I went back into the studio to lay down two new, shorter versions more suited to clubs.”

“You have to catch the balance, dance floors are responding to a more twisted, darker sound these days” says John. “We wanted to capture that essence, whist at the same time stay true to our previous productions.”

And they’ve succeeded, the result is a truly outstanding blend of dislocated melodies, driving bass, ethereal vocals and a breakdown of immense proportions that had them jumping whilst John road-tested the ‘Stereo’ mix throughout a recent American tour. “It was very rewarding getting such a great reaction from a crowd who didn’t know the track” says John, “Let alone the fact it’s my latest offering”.

Steve Lawler presents his “VIVA” album series; each representing one of his residencies around the world…

Posted by admin on October 14th, 2007 under Club Dance Music

Club Dance

… and where would he begin with? London of course! This double CD celebrates our vibrant capital as it bursts with dark funk, sexy sleaze and sinister fun, all through an expert blend of the world’s best producers.

This compilation draws inspiration from his monthly residency at London’s The End, a night he’s justifiably proud of. “VIVA Harlem Nights has been running for nearly 6 years at The End and it was time lay down a permanent celebration of the night and a permanent celebration of London”

Steve has used the double-disc to recreate a night at the club. “At the night itself I play for 5 hours so re-creating the club atmosphere within the 2CDs ” which is only a 2 ½-hour timeframe ” was really tough, but I have definitely captured the vibe.” “The hardest call was what I should leave off” says Steve “There’s some very exciting music out there and I decided to put a mix together of tracks that I have been heavily supporting this year.”

Alongside two brand new exclusive cuts of his own Steve has drawn on the likes of London faves David K, Gel Abril, Samim, Dubfire, Simon Baker, Bushwacka!, Martin Eyerer, creating an album that will undoubtedly stand the test of time ” and wake up the world with an aural explosion direct from the hedonistic heart of our capital.

Looking to the future, the series of albums will take in other cities that play host to the Viva residencies, the next volume coming from Steve’s very successful slot in Toronto. But for now please enjoy the storming soundscape that is Lawler’s London!

Morgan Page announces the launch of his own label Nuance Recordings

Posted by admin on October 14th, 2007 under Club Dance Music

Club Dance

After a series of chart topping dance floor remixes and a cult-favorite bootleg album, DJ / Producer Morgan Page is pleased to announce the launch of his new label Nuance Recordings. A vehicle for both his remixes and original productions, Nuance Recordings is another step in the rapid growth of this fine young talent.

Morgan Page has never been bound by the constraints of the music industry and he always plays by his own rules. With few label options for a young DJ/producer to turn, in 2006 he self-released the bootleg remix album Cease And Desist. Comprised of his unauthorized remixes of songs from popular music acts including Coldplay and David Bowie, Morgan took on big music and won. The album drew raves reviews in magazines and websites all over the world and it became a cult Club Danceclassic with fans. Ironically, rather than receive the cease and desist letters from the major labels, the album actually provided the labels with a solid showcase of Morgan Page’s work. It wasn’t long before he was hired by the majors to legally remix tracks from their hottest artists. He now works regularly with Warner Bros, Wind Up, Sanctuary, Concord Records, Interscope, Geffen, and Virgin, and has remixed mainstream acts including Nelly Furtado, Korn, Stevie Nicks & Angie Stone. Morgan Page has also landed three #1 Billboard remixes including Nelly Furtado “Maneater,” Delerium “Angelicus,” and most recently, Jody Watley’s “I Want Your Love.” His remix of Tegan & Sara’s single “Back In Your Head” will also be released soon via Warner Bros

“Cease and Desist started as an experiment to see how these mixes would resonant with the public. I had no idea how people would react, but my friends and fellow DJs urged me to release the album. Next thing I know - the mixes are popping up on KCRW, getting played at Coachella, and the majors are asking for remix work,” Page says

Although Morgan Page is having great success with his mainstream remixes, his heart lies with the underground. After all, it was acts like Swayzak, Terry Lee Brown Jr. and Barada that first drew him into the world of electronic dance music. Prior to the launch of Nuance Recordings, Page successfully released tracks and EPs through respected labels including Bedrock, SAW, and Force Tracks. Nuance Recordings will now provide an outlet for Morgan Page to showcase his own original material on a regular basis (w/ occasional guests) directly through Beatport and via IODA for iTunes and smaller store accounts. Currently out now on Beatport is “Landline” (receiving full support from the likes of Sasha, James Zabiela, Sander Kleinenberg, Danny Howells, Steve Lawler, and Nick Warren) and “The Tipping Point” EP.

Morgan Page plans to release his debut artist album in the spring through Nettwerk, featuring a selection of both his original productions and remixes. The album will be preceded by the November release of a brand new single through Nettwerk.

llustrious Swedish dance music producer Tiger Stripes (aka DMalicious, aka 12th Floor) brings his own brand of boogie to the dance floor with “Safari”

Posted by admin on October 12th, 2007 under Club Dance Music

Club Dance

Having done at least two EP’s for King Street/Nite Grooves, we couldn’t help but ask him to grace us all with a debut full-length album. What he turned out was an unparalleled 73-plus minute CD containing a mostly instrumental mixture of dark yet unobtrusive tech, Latin-infused, jazzy riffs, pumping basslines, disco-stringed, pure head-nodding percussion, soulfully melodic tunes.

Basically, this nordic dance music kat delivers nothing but pure quality and unadulterated rhythm. A musician from the tender age of 10, Mikael Nordgren, as he’s known by friends & family, became well-versed in playing a variety of instruments including Bass, Drums, Guitar & Piano. He was bitten by the House Music bug later in life, developing his skills as he grew, making him one of the dynamic producers in Dance Music today. Six of the eleven dance-lively Nite Grooves Club Dancetracks have been previously released on vinyl only and are now finally available on cd. The other two, “Spacious Mind” & “Pharoah’s Cigar” debut on this album.

We also hear special collaborations; one being Song for Edit with Kerri Chandler, one of the living legends of Dance Music and the other Consecration featuring Hanna Haîs, European chanteuse extraordinaire whose worked with the likes of DJ Pierre, Sergio Flores, Matthias “Matty” Heilbronn, and many more. This album is so universally rhythmic it can work on almost ANY dancefloor. Each song embarks the listener in a journey, telling a tale with it’s varied subliminal messages, with rigorous synth sounds and incredibly effective drum loops; the least of sounds that clearly shine through on this masterpiece collection of danceable works. It’s a ride you won’t want to get off. Working alongside his genius contemporaries such as Rasmus Faber (who dons the last track), Marcus Enochson, & SUMO, it’s no wonder Swedish producers are surely among the forerunners in contemporary House Music.

Tracklist:

1. Spirited Away

2. Pharoahs Cigar

Originally a dancer, Dinky, aka Chilean Alejandra Iglesias crossed over into DJing and production while in New York studying contemporary dance at the start of the century. She used to run a monthly night in New York with Magda and also released several singles on Traum before her single ‘Acid in my Fridge’ blew up on dancefloors in 2005. These days she regularly spins out at club nights such as Cocoon and Circoloco as well as at the Panorama Bar in Berlin, where she’s been part of the techno community since 2003.

For her ‘Get Lost’ mix, Dinky taps the moodier side of house and techno with cuts from Matt John, The Mountain People, Radio Slave, Shinedoe and Cassy bookended by her own tracks from her label Horizontal at the start and finish.

Musicrow releases a new virtual string machine that perfectly recreates the lush sound of analog string machines..

Posted by admin on October 10th, 2007 under Club Dance Music

Club Dance

Vintage Strings MkII is a new super realistic virtual string machine that perfectly recreates the lush sound of analog string machines. The string machine (also called string ensemble or string synth) was invented by Ken Freeman in 1970 as an attempt to replicate the sound of orchestral strings. It was so successful that it shortly became beloved instrument in its own right.

Club Dance The distinctive sound of vintage string machines like the Arp Solina or the Crumer Performer can be heard on numerous music productions. It has been used by various musicians like: Pink Floyd, Air, Beck, The Eagles, Kraftwerk, The Cure, Joy Division, Josh Wink, Morrisey, Tangerine Dream, Keane, Japan, and New Order to name few.

Like these old machines, Vintage Strings MkII is a synthesizer that was especially designed to produce rich warm string pads. Vintage Stings MkII makes no use of samples and is very simple to operate, so tweaking the 64 presets or creating completely new ones could not be easier!

If you like the classic sound of analog strings machines, Vintage Strings MkII will take you as close as possible to the real thing!

Global Underground present the incredible new album from Dutch electronica pioneer; Eelke Kleijn

Posted by admin on October 8th, 2007 under Club Dance Music

Club DanceIndustry heavyweight Eelke Kleijn is no stranger to success. He made major waves last year with a string of very well received and highly circulated productions, and remixes. Eelke’s signature of technological mastery with quirky eclecticism is in evidence on this, his debut album: Naturally Artificial.

Made as a labour of love before being quickly snapped up by GUMUSIC, Kleijn’s; Naturally Artificial retains all the glory of a delicately constructed DJ set, a talent that Eelke is also held in high regard for. Shifting up and down gears with the grace of a royal chauffer, the talented young Rotterdam producer takes you from starting point to destination in style. Speeding through red lights on chunky electro house nuggets such as Ondine, then cruising to admire the scenery with Be Somewhere Else. Eelke finally puts the breaks on completely after Monsters Of The Deep, the album’s epic Moroder tinged, show-stopping, finale.

Soulwax return with a 14-track compendium of their genre defining & dancefloor destroying reworkings of other peoples songs..

Posted by admin on October 7th, 2007 under Club Dance Music

Club Dance

Soulwax return with a compendium of their genre defining and dancefloor destroying reworkings of other peoples songs on Parlophone on 22/10/07. Here you will find (and this is also the full title of the album)…“Most Of the remixes we’ve made over the years except for the one for Einsturzende Neubauten because we lost it and a few we didn’t think sounded good enough or just didn’t fit in length-wise. But including some that are hard to find because either people forgot about them or just simply because they haven’t been released yet. A few we really love. One we think is just OK. Some we did for free. Some we did for money. Some just for ourselves without permission and some for friends as swaps but never on time and always at our studio in Ghent.”

Soulwax is Brothers David & Stephen Dewaele, Stefaan Van Leuven & Steve Slingeneyer - four Belgians who many years ago inspired by the heavy stoner rock of bands like Kyuss & Masters Of Reality, formed a band. Over a decade and several albums later they have evolved into one of the world’s most pioneering cross-musical forces, albeit confusing a few people and pundits along the way. The Dewaele brothers also DJ a bit on the side under the name 2ManyDJs. Spawned from their days of post gig partying to avoid boredom on tour they have quickly become one of the worlds most respected and requested bookings at clubs, parties and festivals around the world.

Why? Aside from the fact that their massively influential mix album ‘As Heard On Radio Soulwax Pt 2’ has sold in excess of 400,000 copies and that post 2manyDJs club-land is an all together more eclectic and wildly more fun place to be thanks to Soulwax, One of the major reasons is in the remixes you are about to hear!!!… Despite the massive differences between acts like The Gossip, Klaxons & LCD Soundsystem and mainstream pop acts like Kylie, Robbie Williams and Sugababes, Soulwax have a knack of taking an original and transporting it to an altogether more euphoric and often darker place.

Many of these were created specifically to bring havoc to the dancefloor during 2manyDJs sets, as well as those of their friends and peers from around the world like Tiga, Erol Alkan, Justice and all those who have welcomed these mixes into their world. And it doesn’t just stop there; Inspired by the Human League’s ‘Love & Dancing’ remix album, Soulwax remixed their entire last studio album ‘Any Minute Now’ as the acclaimed ‘Nite Versions’ album in 2005 which spawned several massive club anthems in its own right and was later fully replicated live to magnificent effect. The NME even referred to it as “a muscular, Glamorous record that perfectly encapsulates the excitement of modern underground clubbing.”

They have also helped redefine clubland in many other ways, often labelled (much to their ultimate embarrassment) as godfathers of the likes of bastard pop, mash-up, electro-house and even more recently nu-rave because they have flown the flag for eclecticism without fear. Back in 98/99 playing rock records in house clubs was more than just frowned upon- it could get you bottled; nowadays there is a more defined happy medium between pounding techno, disco, pop and even heavy rock.

Over the past three years Soulwax has curated, organised and toured the world with their own Radio Soulwax parties; Nights specifically organised and programmed to bring their friends and like minded acts/DJs like Vitalic, Headman, Klaxons, Who Made Who, Simian Mobile Disco, Tiga, Erol, Justice amongst others together to huge sellout crowds across in every corner of the globe. It allowed them to experiment live and was the platform for their ‘Nite Versions’ live incarnation to be unleashed on the the public. The Radio Soulwax phenomenon and the chaos around it is also the subject of a full-length film ‘Part Of The Weekend Never Dies’ to be released later this year.

As with ‘Nite Versions’, Soulwax will be putting together and performing the Remixes exclusively LIVE at a series of special Radio Soulwax events to be announced shortly alongside 2manyDJs and supporting line-up of artists/DJs.

Soulwax make amazing mixes that transport people and songs to a new place. We hope you like them. They have also donned their 2manyDJs hat to create a mix of them for you to listen to or lose your shit to in the privacy of your own home, shop or party on disc two. Keep an eager ear out and you will hear stuff that isn’t on the first CD.
