Sébastien Léger releases “Planets” on his own label Mistakes Music

Posted by admin on November 16th, 2007 under Club Dance Music

Club DanceIn November Sébastien Léger is going to showcase what his label Mistakes Music is all about. He’s going to do it with a digital only album consisting of 11 tracks. Each tune except “Sun” has been named after a planet in our solar system.Mistakes Music acts as an outlet for Sébastien’s own music. The label itself is named after Sébastien’s “ad lib” approach to producing records, whereby the final mix down and arrangement on each track has in fact been achieved by a happy accident or “mistake” as he modestly puts it. Launching earlier this year with ‘Pluto’ & ‘Saturn’ and following in quick succession with ‘Mercury’ & ‘Mars’, it was easy to see from the amazing reactions and excellent sales that this label had been eagerly awaited by music fans across the world. With its wide ranging and genre defying grooves, crossing between house, electro, techno and progressive, it is fast becoming something of a respected imprint. But lets be clear about one thing ” This is not an artist album says Sébastien. This is a club oriented album. It is fun, groovy, melodic, spacey, punchy, emotional, crazy and lovely (like me). He offers with a smirk.A breath of fresh air perhaps in this era when genres no longer apply to DJ sets, there are many facets to Sébastien Léger which are apparent in this album, and the one thing that is evident is his unquestionable passion for house music, in all its glorious forms. Billed as the new Jacques Lu Cont (except that he is a real Frenchman) you can expect to hear Seb’s tracks everywhere… from Pete Tong to Mark Knight to Eddie Halliwell to D Ramirez. As a remixer Sébastien is equally prolific with remixes for Justin Timberlake, Groove Armada and Ali Love.In 1998 Sébastien published his first EPs under the alias Deaf’n’Dumb Crew. In the years that followed Sébastien released more than 50 records on many international labels, building his reputation as a key player within the new blood of talented producers.Tracklist:1. Pluto

Nic Fanciulli & Andy Chatterley AKA Skylark release debut artist album “I-Panik”

Posted by admin on November 13th, 2007 under Club Dance Music

Club DanceSkylark is Nic Fanciulli and Andy Chatterley. The pair have been working together for almost 10 years and their credentials are impressive. Earlier this year they were nominated for a GRAMMY, under their Buick Project moniker, for their remix of Tiefschwarz’s ‘Damage’ collaboration with Tracy Thorn and together have released over 20 remixes and original productions.Their debut artist album “I-Panik” is something Nic and Andy have been meaning to get round to for some time, however, the success of 2004’s ‘That’s More Like it’ saw the electronic act inundated with remix requests from the likes of Kylie through to Deep Dish. And when Nic also jokes “we are both very random so we never really know what we are Club Dancegonna do until the day we decide.” You can kind of see why it’s taken until now to get this release out.Although, patience, they say is a virtue and playing the waiting game here has certainly paid off. The result is 14 tracks ranging from West Coast-esque house to intelligent, melodic proggy soundscapes - there is not one filler on the entire album. Its beauty lies in its versatility - It works in the club, car, after party…Parts of it make you want to dance, part of it makes you want to listen. All of it is a brilliant show case of how insightful electronic music can be and should be in today’s world. The way in which Skylark have decided to release this album is as forward thinking as the music. Put out on their own label Saved and available only digitally, in its entirety initially it follows the current trend for acts to shun the traditional release pattern and do things their own way a la Radiohead. In a second wave to follow next year the album will be released as a physical product complete with a second disc of remixes, coming from acts invited by Nic and Andy.Tracklist:01.Information
