The grand Jedi of dance Tom Middleton brings his exciting, eclectic musical approach to Renaissance’s critically acclaimed 3D series.

Posted by admin on January 24th, 2008 under Club Dance Music

Club DanceStepping into the shoes of Faithless is no easy task, but Renaissance had little hesitation inviting the esteemed, galactic ambassador of dance, Tom Middleton to compile and mix the latest instalment of 3D.Over the years Tom has cut a respected musical swathe under a host of pseudonyms such as Global Communication, Cosmos and The Modwheel, not to mention his own righteous moniker. As a DJ he has toured the world; held a much-coveted residency at Manumission; produce landmark Essential Mixes and, of course, establish himself as one of the worlds most exciting compilation artists via diverse series such as Crazy Covers, The Trip and now legendary Sounds Of The Cosmos. All in all, the perfect candidate to take up the 3D reigns.“I love the 3D concept”, says Tom, “The club, studio and home discs provide me with the perfect platform to showcase my musical diversity. Infact, I think this is the closest thing I’ve ever done to my ‘Cosmos’ compilation. I’m frequently asked if I’d ever follow that up and I guess this is finally it! I am certainly very happy with the end result.”Tom has also embraced the 3D tradition, which debut compiler Satoshi Tomiie kick-started, by including 5 exclusives, produced or mixed exclusively for the ‘Studio’ disc, highlights of which are a remix of Ulrich Schnauss and two incredible Cosmos offerings ” the brand-new, unreleased ‘Lost Inside’, plus a 3D dub interpretation of his seminal ‘Take Me With You’.With the ‘Club’ and ‘Home’ mixes taking the album to a whopping 47 tracks, drawing on acts such as Groove Armada, Orbital, Incognito, Wink, Henrik Schwarz and Ben Watt, to name but a few, you have the perfect recipe for one of the most eagerly anticipated albums of 2008.Tracklist:01 Itamar Sagi - Black Gold

Club DanceMixing “Sci-Fi-Hi-Fi Vol.4″, Sweden’s Funk D’Void had a tough task ahead of him following 3 incredible chapters from Ewan Pearson, Luciano and Alex Smoke. Ever the perfectionist Funk D’Void has gone above and beyond with a mix that takes the series up to the next level. “I think this is the best mix I’ve ever done,” he tells eagerly.Funk D’Void’s mix showcases his vast musical background, presenting us with a combination of tracks intricately pieced together in aural delight. Keys blend together harmoniously and elements combine almost to create whole new tracks through his mixes alone. The opening mix of Itamar Sagi’s ‘Black Gold’ and Lars’ own mix of Beroshima’s deeper than deep ‘Horizon’ is so extensive at two and a half minutes it’s almost as if the two tracks were made as one.Tracklist: 1) Itamar Sagi ” Black Gold (Original Mix)

Club DanceKenny Carvajal ft. Marissa Guzman But I DoJuicy Lucy

Seems like a while since we heard from mr.Carvajal, and what could fit better at this time of year than this “warm” reunion. Sweet and quirky vocals from Marissa Guzman adds to a simple summery afrogroove in the original vocal, but the ep also includes an instrumental version. The Thinkers Aid to the SouLLess Monkeynuts mix goes on a refreshing nu samba jazz-trip with a sultry bassline and organ. Matthias Tanzmann will release his debut solo album titled “Restless” on his own imprint Moon Harbour.

Posted by admin on January 17th, 2008 under Club Dance Music

Club DanceIt’s been seven years now since Matthias Tanzmann teamed up with Daniel Scholz under the Gamat 3000 umbrella and released the ‘All Seasons’ album on Dessous Recordings. Back then this relaxed deephouse understatement was the flavor of the month. Now Matthias Tanzmann presents the grown up, world-travelled solo debut album ‘Restless’. Not just the album title, but also track names like Keep On, Flight Mode or Redirected reflect a packed international DJ booking schedule over the last few years. Since 2007 he has been resident at Circoloco at DC10 (Ibiza) and part of their world tour. Rounded off with residencies at Distillery (Leipzig), Monza (Frankfurt), Flokati (Munich) and Le Club (Valencia), it is fair to say that Matthias Tanzmann has never played as many international gigs as in the last year.Musically he has developed significantly over these seven years. Fully committed to deephouse in the beginning, his tracks and sets have become more functional over time. His 12” release ‘Bulldozer’ (MHR022) is a prime example of a captivating bridge built between house and techno, without getting lost in anything considered half-baked Minimal.‘Restless’ opens a new door for Matthias Tanzmann’s music, and new influences are abound in many of the album tracks. With a distinctive love of percussion as a key new element, he often uses percussive sounds as the hook line of his tracks. Check Rugby, Keep On or Crazy Circus for example. The focus of these tracks, more than ever before in Tanzmann’s productions, is mainly on rhythm and groove. The collected experience of a seasoned world-class DJ is perfectly reflected. All titles of ‘Restless’ have their own place in the time span of an imaginary club night, from a relaxed start-up mood, to prime time action, to hypnotic fade-outs in the early morning. The previously released teaser 12” Rugby (MHR033) features a special edit of the track and a Mathias Kaden remix ” both extremely well received. The original of Rugby, available on the album, is currently being thrashed by the likes of Josh Wink, Karotte, Raresh and 2000 And One. Last but not least, Pokerflat’s Steve Bug selected Keep On for his current Fabric mix CD.The CD version of ‘Restless’ comes mixed, of course, by Matthias Tanzmann. Alongside the new album tracks you will find other Tanzmann production classics like Bulldozer, Nip Slip, Procon and Still Like It Like That. Tracklist:2×12” - UnmixedA1 Keep On
